Cities of the 16th
The 16th District of Texas is represented by none other than Veronica Escobar, a native of El Paso, the biggest city in the district and also the name of the county covering the district. The city of El Paso has a population of about 632,270 according to the most recent census though that number could be higher by now. The rest of the 16th district has much smaller towns, with the next biggest town being Horizon City with a population of less than 10,000. The entire 16th district has a total population of around 707,375.

Demographics
The 16th district is home to a variety of people. Females make up a majority of the district at 51.3%. Race is also a majority in this district with 80.9% being white, 3.8% black, and 1.2% Asian. Again, ethnicity is also a majority in the 16th district, with 79.3% unsurprisingly being Hispanic since the district is right on the border of Mexico. The district has an unemployment rate of 7.7% and a median household income of $41,434. The high school graduation rate of the district is 76.4% while the college graduation rate is 22.6%. Major Industries 
El Paso is an entry point between the United States and Mexico. Food production, clothing, construction materials, electronics, medical equipment, and plastics are all large industries in the 16th district. Fruit, vegetables, pecans, and livestock are all produced here as part of food production. Cotton is grown in the 16th district as part of clothing production. Education is also very big in the 16th district. The district is home to the University of Texas at El Paso which has an annual budget of $250 million. Call centers also make up 7 of the 10 top business employers in El Paso.

Politics
The 16th district of Texas has remained very Democrat for at least the last 20 years. Representative Veronica Escobar received 68.5% of the vote. The election before that, Beto O'Rourke was elected with 85.7% of the vote. In this district, there are about 493,308 residents of voting age. In the 2018 general election, only 181,754 voted. 124,437 of those were for the Democrat, Representative Veronica Escobar. Only 49,127 votes were for the Republican candidate, Rick Seeberger. Ballotpedia shows the House elections back to 1990 and the closest election shown was with the Democratic candidate at 51.7%.
